Buderim House is the practices first Sunshine Coast project, tackling a mid century low set blockwork ‘project home’.
The existing home features a well appointed kitchen and living space that flows from an entry courtyards to the North-East facing rear yard. As such the natural light and breezes of the property are already well harnessed.
Our interventions keep the planning as is, with simple upgrades to existing facilities proposed to bring the kitchen and living into the 21st century. The existing front courtyard planning is adjusted slightly to introduce a gatehouse that formalises the entry sequence.
A new outdoor room is attached to the rear to create a protected external space for entertaining and family meals. It’s scooped roof form captures and controls light with a horizontal plane of greenery.
