Beck House is an alterations and additions project in the heart of Rosalie / Paddington, Brisbane.

The project explores how to adapt an existing character home to it’s flood plain conditions. The brief requires that the lower levels adapt to become indifferent to flood waters, so an exploration of materials and planning seeks to create an outcome that mitigates and eases flood waters passing through, and inevitably being washed out.

Upstairs plays host to a rethinking of where living spaces are located in an effort to orientate towards the front and back yard spaces, taking full advantage of natural light and breezes.

The 3 existing bedrooms are re-planned to create a master suite that fronts the street whilst the 2 remaining bedrooms are co located around study spaces and a shared bathroom to the rear.
