Edith House seeks to create a strong connection to the garden and introduce an abundance of light, air and excitement to the home.

In a relatively familiar approach the house is raised and extended to the rear to allow the public areas of the house flow from the front gate, through a lower level and out to the rear where a new pool and curated lawn space is defined.

The large void at the entry to the house defines the circulation space to the upper level and allows arrival, occupation and connection to occur with a sense of volume in the process. A cleverly located skylight above further enhances the drama of the space as the sun rises and sets.

This project is filled with moments of delight, reinvigorated character and understated architectural expression through new insertions. It doesn’t seek to be opulent or extravagant, rather it simply wishes to enhance the lives of the occupants and allow them to experience the great Queensland climate in comfort.
